ABOUT MARCELLE INK
Marcelle is the founder of Marcelle Ink, an international resource for writers, creatives, and solopreneurs.
She is the former owner and Editor-in-Chief of Brain Child: The Magazine for Thinking Mothers and founder of Brain Teen: The Magazine for Thinking Parents; two award-winning literary magazines with 30,000 subscribers and national newsstand distribution. As a publisher, she grew Brain Child’s website community from fewer than 1,000 monthly page views to more than 470,000 monthly pageviews, and the magazine’s social media footprint to 240,000 fans, a leading position for any literary magazine. Brain Child and Brain Teen forged the path for writers to earn literary awards and achieve recognition for writing about motherhood and helped build the profile of personal essays in mainstream media. In 2019 Brain Child and Brain Teen merged with the Creative Nonfiction Foundation.
Marcelle is the author of An Iridescent Life: Essays on Motherhood and co-editor of This is Childhood. Her essays have been published in numerous anthologies and magazines including Blended: Writers on the Stepfamily Experience, the New York Times, Creative Nonfiction, The Rumpus, The Manifestation, Eating Well, Literary Mama, Cosmopolitan, Salon, Media Bistro and The Story on NPR.
Marcelle has taught writing workshops and seminars for decades, most recently at Westport Writers Workshop. She continues to teach, consult and lecture on writing, publishing, and creative career building and has been a speaker at numerous colleges and conferences, including the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA), The Muse & The Marketplace, Connecticut Press Club, Emerson College, Creative Arts Business Summit, Motherhood & Words and the MERCI/Demeter Press Convention.
For two years she was the host of Carousel, a 20-years-running television show on cable networks and online, where she interviewed writers, authors, entrepreneurs and industry leaders. Marcelle received her MFA from New York University and BA in creative studies from Hofstra University. She has held executive marketing and business development positions at numerous companies including, Office.com, Gale Cengage and High Beam. She was the founder of Mudpies & Butrerflies LLC, former host of Carousel, a 20-years-running cable television show where she interviewed writers, authors, entrepreneurs and industry leaders.
Marcelle currently serves on several boards including, Creative Nonfiction Magazine, Pen Parentis, and Hazelden Bett Ford.
